Story behind the song "Great I AM"
We sing the song "The Great I Am" Originally made famous by the Phillips brothers, (Phillips, Craig & Dean), great Christian singers in the 90s and 2000's. This song rocks, because it sings about what we are looking for in life, and in Him.
"I wanna be close, close to Your side. So heaven is real, and death is a lie. "
There is no death (no condemnation) for those who believe in Christ Jesus, Paul tells us in Romans.
There is only eternity, and we need only keep an eternal perspective with all that goes wrong and will continue to go wrong in this broken world! (Colossians 3:2)
"The mountains shake before You, the demons run and flee. At the mention of Your name, King of Majesty.
There is no power in hell, or any who can stand
There is no power in hell, or any who can stand
before the power and the presence of the Great I AM."
In Exodus 3:14, God tells Moses "I am who I Am."
And that's all He or we need to know. This song reminds us of the incomparable God we worship and the power He embodies. His Holy Spirit that without we can do nothing, (Matthew) and with we can do anything, according to His will.
We worship the First and Last, the Author and Finisher of our faith. Our faith is made sight (and no longer faith when we see Jesus in heaven!) and who is it we worship?
We worship a God whose existence is eternal and self-sufficient, needing nothing, creating everything.
This song encourages believers to lift up our voices and exalt Him! And recognize Jesus as the ultimate source of strength and salvation.
